Class Offerings and Schedule

Advanced Class: Beyond the Basics OR

Each class is $65 for 12 hours of instruction.

We Offer the Following Computer Courses:

–Introduction to Computers– This class is for the computer novice and assumes the student has NO computer experience. It is divided into three parts.|
Part I deals with the parts of the computer - what they are called and what they do. It explains the difference between hardware and software. It covers the basics of the operating system (Windows 98) and the use of the mouse and the keyboard.
Part II is an introduction to word processing. Using the program, we write a brief biography illustrating the techniques of word wrapping, text alignment, spelling and grammar checker, formatting paragraphs, and importing graphics into the document.
Part III is a brief introduction to the Internet. The student is taught terminology, receives an email account, learns to send and receive email and is shown the basics of "surfing the net".

–Working With Windows– Step II: This class covers using Windows Explorer, copying, moving and deleting files, folders and file management, font management, computer maintenance, viruses, loading and unloading software, clicking on the right side of the mouse and setting preferences.

–Beyond the Basics– Step III: This class is a continuation of word processing and an introduction to data management. The class uses a series of projects to cover the following skills: editing techniques such as cutting and pasting, changing fonts, inserting, keyboard shortcuts, paragraph formatting, columns, borders, use of special papers, font usage, working with graphics, WordArt and the drawing tools, creating a logo, tabs, envelopes, mailing labels, mail merge and address books.

–Digital Photo– This class deals with manipulating photographs. It covers the use of a digital camera, the color printer and the scanning of traditional photos. The class uses a series of projects to cover the following: color and brightness correction, cropping, removing dust and wrinkles from old photos, special effects, stamping, making composite pictures, touching up photos, making cut-outs, and using templates.
